Meet Justine
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Justine Janis (she/her) is a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New York City. I earned my MSW from Washington University in St. Louis and furthered my expertise through a year-long fellowship focused on psychosocial rehabilitation at Yale/ Veterans Administration in West Haven, Connecticut. Over the course of my career, I have gained valuable experience in various mental health settings, working with diverse populations including veterans, emerging adults, adults, and older adults.

In therapy, I adopt a humanistic, empathetic, and empowering approach. Recognizing the unique needs of each individual client, I draw from a range of frameworks and theories to tailor our sessions accordingly. I have received specialized training in several evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-focused CBT, Mindfulness and breathwork, Attachment Theory, Mentalization-Based Therapy, and Gottman Levels 1 Couples' Counseling.
I believe in embracing the rich tapestry of cultural backgrounds, including the unique experiences of the AAPI community, as well as exploring sexuality, gender, spiritual beliefs, race, and family systems. By delving into these facets, we can facilitate healing and embracing our true selves. Therapy can be an emotionally challenging process, but together, we will strike a balance between the heaviness and lightness.
