Meet Justine
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Justine Janis (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in New York City.

I earned my MSW from Washington University in St. Louis in 2013 and furthered my expertise through a year-long fellowship focused on psychosocial rehabilitation at Yale and the VA in West Haven, Connecticut.

In therapy, I adopt a humanistic, empathetic, and empowering approach. Recognizing the unique needs of each individual client, I draw from a range of frameworks and theories to tailor our sessions accordingly. I have received specialized training in several evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-focused CBT, Mindfulness and breathwork, Attachment Theory, Mentalization-Based Therapy, and Gottman Levels 1 Couples' Counseling.
I believe in embracing the richness of our diverse backgrounds — race, culture, sexuality, gender, spiritual beliefs, and family systems. By exploring these layers, we create space for healing and for embracing our authentic selves. Therapy can be challenging, but together, we'll find the right balance between the deep work and lighter moments.
